Face Matters 24/7 Balm Review

Hi my Lovelies!

Apologies for my rather noticeable absence - I've had a run of illnesses that I've had to learn to get along with, and this has taken me away from my beloved beauty interests for a while. But you can never keep a beauty addict down for long!

Anyway, as the title suggests, this is a review. This gorgeous Face Matters 24/7 Balm was sent to me quite some time ago and I've been hanging onto it and using it. The plus side to having had this product for so long is that I've used it over a longer period of time and can testify to its anti-ageing properties!

Face Matters has a very small range of products, but then they don't need a large range because all the products are anti-ageing and based on the same ingredient throughout their products which includes a cleanser, toner/spritzer, moisturiser, serum/elixir and this multi-use balm. The "miracle mineral" they use is organic silicon. This ingredient is stated to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. The website, which can be found HERE, states that there has been extensive international research which confirms that silicon increases epidermal thickness and skin elasticity and also strengthens brittle nails! Which is something I can attest to as I use this lovely balm every evening to rub into my nails and cuticles which are normally dry and brittle, and my nails look so much better for it! All of the products are a blend of high levels of this organic silicon and other active botanical oils chosen specifically for their anti-ageing properties.

So that is what is in the product which enables it to do, quite literally, what it says on the tin!

The balm, which Face Matters kindly sent to me, can be used as a cleansing balm, and comes with a muslin cloth, it starts as a very hard balm which quickly melts between your fingers to a lovely light blend of oils, which you massage gently all over your face. You then use the muslin cloth to remove all of the balm, leaving your skin fresh and SO smoothe and supple.

However my favourite use is as an intensive overnight balm, as this is when our body heals and regenerates cells, and being on the wrong side of 40, I need to help boost my dwindling bodies ability to regenerate in anyway possible! Again, it just melts between warm fingers and I massage it into my skin, it doesn't sit on your skin and make you stick to your pillows, but it slowly soaks into the skin without feeling oily or heavy. It has a lovely refreshing citrusy smell to it aswell, so it's a nice aroma to go to sleep with. Since using it, especially in the winter, my dry patches have disappeared and a lot of my break outs have virtually stopped. I have combination to oily skin aswell and even when wearing it at night it nicely balances my skin. I always use toner after using it as a cleansing balm though, to give a nice clean and non-oily base to makeup. Using it at night time seems to stop me producing so much oil the next day, but then oily skin over produces oil to make up for the lack of oil it deems is in your skin. So adding oil at night stops the body overproducing sebum and oil, which clog pores and creates oily skin. I also use it as an intensive moisturiser as I said, on my nails and cuticles, and put a small amount on dry skin areas and love to use it as an intense overnight moisturiser on my hands, because they are the first thing to age! I've noticed that my light lines seem to be plumped out and my deep forehead "frown line" has definitely got less deep and much more shallow.

In my opinion this balm is brilliant and actually does what it says it's going to do! It didn't cause my over sensitive skin to breakout and I woke up with lovely soothed and plumped skin. It's available for £55 for 50g (it has multi-purchase discounts so it's worth getting together with your friends as it drops to £45 when you order 3 or more!), it also comes with the muslin cloth. This is definitely the higher end of skincare but a little really goes a long way (as I found out after my large amount I initially used!), and so far this has lasted me since November last year being used either as a cleanser on the hotter days or a balm in colder, drier conditions. Would I buy this? Absolutely I would! And just as the icing on the cake, Face Matters also supports Refuge which is one of my favourite charities. A great product from a great skincare range, and a company dedicated to helping vulnerable women, what more could they do to make me love them?! Nothing, that's what! So if Balm isn't your thing, pop along and see their other products, their Morning Moisturise is next on my list, I can't wait until payday to get that order in!

Take care my Lovelies and I promise I will be around much more very very soon!
